you know a song means a lot to a band when it leaves them in tears

this song has been on play kinda nonstop since I first heard it a few days ago.

there’s something about it. perhaps the upbeat nature. perhaps that it reminds me of highschool pep band days. perhaps the cheerful, yet mournful lyrics

Cause though the truth may vary
this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.

A physicist, biologist and a chemist were going to the ocean for the first time. The physicist saw the ocean and was fascinated by the waves. He said he wanted to do some research on the fluid dynamics of the waves and walked into the ocean. Obviously he was drowned and never returned. The biologist said he wanted to do research on the flora and fauna inside the ocean and walked inside the ocean. He too, never returned. The chemist waited for a long time and afterwards, wrote the observation, “The physicist and the biologist are soluble in ocean water”.

there was a particularly surreal moment right before I went below deck into the ship…

i thought to myself, if you told me 4 years ago that I would be 100ft underwater….diving a shipwreck… in hawai’i…

i’m pretty sure i would have called you crazy.
